Easter
only one thing i could possibly do for easter is of course an easter bonnett,
i have to admit im getting a little addicted to making these little hats, (could i be the new mad hatter!)
well this little make started life as a newspaper, toilet roll inner, some cardboard leftovers and a cast off top of my daughters.
with the addition of some beautiful flowers lace and decopatch paper from that Craft Place.
so to start i used 2 upturned pots to shape the top of the hat stand and the bowl of the hat.
i used 4-5 layers of torn up newspaper and pva, letting each layer dry before doing the next.
once the hat stand top was dry and removed from the pot i filled it with crumpled newspaper (dry)
then sealed the bottom with a cirle of card. the pole is made by cutting a toilet roll inner and rolling it tight to the size i wanted and then glued shut and the ends sealed with cardboard circles. the base is just layers of cardborad scraps cut into circles and layered, to assemble i used glue to stick the pole to base and top to pole then used strips of newspaper and pva to give a bit of strength at the joins, leave to dry completely , overnight is best.
once dry you can then cover with the decopatch paper, and embellish as you wish
i used some little flowers i had made and a bit of peal trim.
onto the hat, once the bowl of the hat was dry i cut a brim from cardboard and attached it to form a nice big Easter bonnett, then comes the fun bit!
this summer top of my daughters was destined for the bin until i grabbed it "" such pretty fabric shouldn't go to a landfill!!
anyway i used part of it to cover the inside of the hat, and then the outside using the pointy neck frill to cover the brim and create a kind of fish tail on the back .
i added a ribbon and tiny flowers all around the brim
then i got busy on the back
i started with the large rose in the centre, and then the bow, and then worked from there arranging all the pretty pretty flower. and finally added the lace around the edge.
i really like it, and can guarantee you peeps there will be more hats to come xx
now we want to see your Easter creations
