hello all you lovely bloglanders
new challenge is live and fabulous at
theme
Easter
only one thing i could possibly do for easter is of course an easter bonnett,
i have to admit im getting a little addicted to making these little hats, (could i be the new mad hatter!)

well this little make started life as a newspaper, toilet roll inner, some cardboard leftovers and a cast off top of my daughters.
with the addition of some beautiful flowers lace and decopatch paper from that Craft Place.

so to start i used 2 upturned pots to shape the top of the hat stand and the bowl of the hat.
i used 4-5 layers of torn up newspaper and pva, letting each layer dry before doing the next.
once the hat stand top was dry and removed from the pot i filled it with crumpled newspaper (dry)
then sealed the bottom with a cirle of card. the pole is made by cutting a toilet roll inner and rolling it tight to the size i wanted and then glued shut and the ends sealed with cardboard circles. the base is just layers of cardborad scraps cut into circles and layered, to assemble i used glue to stick the pole to base and top to pole then used strips of newspaper and pva to give a bit of strength at the joins, leave to dry completely , overnight is best.

once dry you can then cover with the decopatch paper, and embellish as you wish

i used some little flowers i had made and a bit of peal trim.

onto the hat, once the bowl of the hat was dry i cut a brim from cardboard and attached it to form a nice big Easter bonnett, then comes the fun bit!
this summer top of my daughters was destined for the bin until i grabbed it "" such pretty fabric shouldn't go to a landfill!!
anyway i used part of it to cover the inside of the hat, and then the outside using the pointy neck frill to cover the brim and create a kind of fish tail on the back .

i added a ribbon and tiny flowers all around the brim

then i got busy on the back

i started with the large rose in the centre, and then the bow, and then worked from there arranging all the pretty pretty flower. and finally added the lace around the edge.
i really like it, and can guarantee you peeps there will be more hats to come xx

now we want to see your Easter creations

hey guys
new challenge at
theme
Shaped cards

i went for a shaped hanging card, just to be a little different
the image is from Sweet pea stamps and is called
Hanging Fairy lights

isn't she just so pretty.

i coloured her in spectrum noir pens and then pencils over the top to ad the rich colour and depth, i have also added glitter highlights to her dress and wings but it just doesn't show in my pic (so annoying), the background is done with watercolour crayons , just scribbled on  then washed over with a wet brush , it gives a lovely soft effect.
next she was stuck onto a pretty paper , then fussy cut, so the reverse is all ready for your message

its a nice change from a standard card and if the recipient wants they can use as a wall hanging .

now its your turn to have a go at a shaped card, there are lots to chose from

 Add a Charm

i have used this fab image from Sassy studio designs
Vampire Slayer Sassy

i really had fun doing this one, the blue centenary background is a photo i took of a local
old cemetery/animal sanctuary, then on top of this i have used a Teri sherman digi of gravestones, which i printed fussy cut coloured and layered, on top of this is another Teri sherman digi frame, then the slayer image was printed coloured with spectrum noir and fussy cut, then onto the card she went , to finish off i made a small bottle of silver water, a cross some bats, and a few steaks made with the tops of bbq skewers coloured with spectrums .
And there you have it, oh almost forgot the tiny gems on the eyes of the gargoyles and the bats.

a closer look at the charms

first up is

next is

then

and

and finally

ok so they are all 8x8 including All the copics which is a box canvas

i started by printing and colouring the image then fussy cut her, next the canvas was covered in a stripe paper, the over this i added a layer of tissue i had printed with a paint splat image, using a white pen i highlighted a honeycomb design in some areas.
i then printed and cut the letters and coloured, added to the canvas and then got busywith a box of   wax crayons and a candle, i melted the ends of the crayon and dripped onto the canvas working my way around all the sided, once i thought i had enough on there i hit it with my heat gun to make it all melt and mingle and drippy , (this is a deep box canvas so i did the sides too).

i added the image and the bits of crayon tops, and sealed the whole lot with Deco Mache, once this was dry i added Triple Thick glaze to the letters to give the fab shine.

i hope you like these guys,
come on over and play on the new blog and you could win 3 images of your choice , and its a nice easy anything goes theme to get the ball rolling
